Legislative Testimony
In the fall of 2014, several NH charter school leaders from across the state were asked to testify before the study committee that grew out of the legislative bill, HB-435. Had the bill passed, it would have increased the funding for public charter school students from the current level which is far less than 50% of the state average to 47% of the state average. Unfortunately, the bill did not pass, but was moved to study. The Study Committee presented a long list of questions which those who testified were asked to address. Here is the testimony delivered by Meryl Levin on behalf of Mill Falls.
Water Testing Results
On February 8, 2018, New Hampshire adopted Senate Bill 247 Prevention of Childhood Lead Poisoning from Paint and Water. This law requires, among other actions, that all schools and licensed childcare facilities test lead in drinking water at all locations where water is available for consumption by children. The first round of testing is required to be completed by July 1, 2019, and every 5 years thereafter, until at least 3 rounds are found to be below the standard, and safe for consumption and use. In early January, we completed the required testing here at Mill Falls, and our water was found to be safe! As per the law, we are required to share the letter documenting the tests with our school community. We worked with Engineer, Ian Gaudreau, at GZA which is a firm located in Bedford, NH, and thank him and his team for their work which has been filed with the state of NH, as per the requirements.
