Special Education Teacher, grades K-6

Mill Falls is seeking a Special Education Teacher to work in our public Montessori classroom environment with educationally and behaviorally challenged students. The Special Education teacher will create a program and learning environment that provides specialized instruction for our students with disabilities, enabling those students to benefit from our general education Montessori curriculum to the greatest extent possible.

Responsibilities include: instruction to assigned students by implementing IEPs; preparation of academic materials for students following approved curricula; special education case management including collaboration in preparation of IEPs, reports, assessment, and participating team meetings.

Requirements: It is STRONGLY preferred that candidates be trained with research based teaching methods such as OG and Wilson, and be team-oriented, flexible and creative. Experience with Elementary School aged students with disabilities preferred.

  • Bachelor’s degree required;
  • Trained with research based teaching methods such as OG and WilsonNH Special Education Certification K-12;

Paraprofessional

Position Overview: Mill Falls is seeking a Paraprofessional for the 2018/19  school year. The assignment includes assisting students with disabilities and assisting in self-care of students. Under general supervision, the Paraprofessional assists school teachers, program coordinators, and specialists in completing instructional and clerical duties and assignments involving students with mental, emotional, or multiple handicaps. The Paraprofessional performs instructional assignments with minimum supervision in comprehension and reinforcement skills, emotional, physical, developmental, language, reading, math, and related skills. The Paraprofessional assists in preparing and developing basic teaching materials, instructional aids, and other support materials, as needed.

Requirements: Completion of two years of study (48 credits) at an institution of higher education or Associates Degree or higher.
Qualifications:

  • Experience with children and adolescents in an educational setting;
  • Must have ability to instruct students in mathematics, reading, science, social studies, art, and/or related subjects;
  • Must be able to physically manage students, kneel, sit on floor, lift up to 40 pounds, and provide personal care;
  • Must possess knowledge of educational and instructional techniques.

Substitute Teachers

Mill Falls Charter School is seeking Substitute Teachers for the 2018/19 school year. The majority of assignments include filling in for paraprofessionals and/or Assistant Teachers intermittently throughout the school year. Our Paraprofessionals assist students with disabilities and assist our the students’ Classroom Teachers, Program Coordinators, and Specialists in completing instructional and clerical duties and assignments involving students with mental, emotional, or multiple challenges. Our Assistant Teachers work in collaboration with our Lead Teachers,  and are responsible for the academic, personal and social achievement, safety and physical well being of the children under her/his supervision.

Requirements:
 Completion of two years of study (48 credits) at an institution of higher education or an Associates Degree or higher.

Mill Falls Charter School is the first public Montessori Charter School in New Hampshire. The School opened in Manchester in the fall of 2012. Mill Falls provides a full elementary program, serving 168 students in grades K-6.
