Community Building…and the start of Work Cycles!
Kindness is a work of art.
Kindness pours out of your heart.
You can make someone feel warm inside;
Walk up to them, they won't hide!
One kind word can make someone's day.
Go do something nice now, don't stay away!
~ Writing prompt about kindness by Victoria, 5th year student
As we close out week two of the 2019/20 School Year it’s exciting to note that alongside the important ongoing work of community building, mini-Montessori Work Cycles were in play this week!
The work cycle – a critical component to the Montessori setting – is an extended and uninterrupted period of time (usually about 3 hours) when students focus on their academics. During work-cycle the students practice what they have learned, and are often introduced to new concepts. Please enjoy some photographs below of the creative projects and activities related to the important work of community building, as well as other moments from the week.
It was GREAT to see so many of you at our 2019/20 Open House earlier this week. That annual event is geared toward discussions around classroom operations – details large and small about your children’s school day and the expectations at the various levels. Parents sit with their children’s teaching teams for an intense and focused conversation about how our public Montessori classrooms work.
